The founder, Greg Thornett, graduated from the University of Nottingham with a 1st class masters degree in Civil Engineering. He gained design experience working as a Structural Engineer for Arup.

Following a successful site placement with ABBT / Metronet on the King’s Cross Northern Ticket Hall, he joined Network Rail as a Scheme Project Manager on the King’s Cross Redevelopment Programme. He managed design and construction interfaces on the refurbishment of the Grade I listed Western Range Building, a significant part of the £540m Programme.

He became a Project Manager on Network Rail’s Thameslink Programme, where he was responsible and accountable for the management and successful delivery of the Bermondsey Dive Under civil engineering project that provides line separation into London Bridge station, as well as successfully leading the safe delivery of a portfolio of 20 bridge strengthening schemes necessary to facilitate the track realignments between Waterloo East and New Cross. The overall budget for both programmes was circa £72m and the Bermondsey Dive Under won the ICE London Infrastructure Project of the Year Award in 2017.

Upon successful completion of those projects, he expanded his horizons into railway systems, becoming a track project manager, responsible and accountable for the management and successful delivery of track realignments and plain line renewals on the approaches to London Bridge station.

He then joined the King’s Cross Remodelling programme, where he managed the integration of multiple contractor and third party works in accordance with Delivering Works Within Possessions (DWWP) processes, through integrated constructability and possession countdown reviews.

He became a Full Member of the Association of Project Management (MAPM) in 2017 and Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) in 2019. He also qualified as a Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner in 2019.

He left Network Rail to set up Thornett Project Services Ltd and lend his experience and expertise to clients on a consultancy basis.

Since its inception, clients have included Capita and the London Borough of Barnet Council.
